Vera Sharav est née en Roumanie en 1937, rescapée de la Shoah, citoyenne des États-Unis depuis la fin des années 40, elle est la fondatrice de l’ Alliance for Human Research Protection , https://ahrp.org/ . L’AHRP est une organisation non gouvernementale renommée pour son travail d’alerte dans le secteur pharmaceutique (industrie et recherche). Ainsi l’AHRP veille à ce que les bonnes pratiques, l’éthique, la protection des droits, la dignité humaine, soient respectées par ce secteur ayant notoirement et régulièrement tendance à les "oublier". De par sa vie et son travail, Vera Sharav a développé une pensée originale à la croisée de la science, de l’histoire et de la politique. Pour elle, l'instrumentalisation de la médecine et de la pharma à des fins politiques est une des principales marques de fabrique des systèmes totalitaires et le meilleur moyen de les reconnaître et de les comprendre. Ainsi, veiller sur les bonnes pratiques médicales et pharmaceutiques, c’est veiller sur la démocratie. La parole de Vera Sharav n’est pas forcément consensuelle, mais nous pensons qu’il faut écouter attentivement une femme à l’expérience de vie si profonde et aux connaissances et travaux étendus sur tant de domaines.

Vera Sharav was born in Romania in 1937, a Holocaust survivor, citizen of the United States since the late 40s, she is the founder of the Alliance for Human Research Protection, https://ahrp.org/ . AHRP is a non-governmental organization renowned for its whistleblowing work in the pharmaceutical (industrial and research) sector. Thus, the AHRP ensures that good practices, ethics, the protection of rights, human dignity, are respected by this sector which notoriously and regularly tends to "forget" them. Through her life and work, Vera Sharav has developed an original thought at the crossroads of science, history and politics. For her, the instrumentalization of medicine and pharma for political ends is one of the main hallmarks of totalitarian systems and the best way to recognize and understand them. Watching over good medical and pharmaceutical practices is therefore watching over democracy. Vera Sharav’s words are not necessarily consensual, but we believe that we must listen carefully to a woman with such a deep life experience, extensive knowledge and work on so many fields.
